Teens and Young Adults

 

The library has an area designed especially for our teenage/young adult patrons. The “Teen Room” is located in the Young Adult area and is open for patrons ages twelve and over. The room is designed with a 50’s soda shop theme, with plenty of seating and large comfy pillows for patron’s to use while they hang out, study or read. Sign in at  the circulation desk and check out our growing collection of graphic novels also housed in this room.

 

2010 STORYMAKERS

 Rocky Mountain PBS welcomes all middle school students (Grades 6, 7 & 8) to participate in StoryMakers, a short story contest for young adults. Entries must be mailed by October 15th, 2010.

Homework Resources

The library provides access to the resources you need to complete assignments on a variety of subjects. Access these resources by grade level or by subject.

Online Books

  • StoryPlace is a Children's Digital Library provided by the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, N.C. StoryPlace has two libraries, the Preschool Library and Elementary Library with new activities and themes being added each month.
  • The International Children's Digital Library is designed to provide children ages 3 to 13 with an unparalleled opportunity to experience different cultures through literature and an unequaled ease in accessing online books. Called a "Library for the World's Children," this service has more than 800 books in the collection, representing 43 countries and 32 languages.
  • Storyline is an online streaming video program that features members of the  Screen Actors Guild Foundation reading children's books aloud. Each book includes accompanying activities and lesson ideas.
